MY-SBIRT Program Coordinator

Do you have a passion for public health in Maine? Medical Care Development, Inc. (MCD), a non-profit, public health services organization, is accepting applications for a public health professional to join our team and serve as a Maine Youth and Young Adult Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (MY-SBIRT) Coordinator. This position will be responsible for the planning, development, coordination, implementation, and management of the MY-SBIRT initiative, as well as for stakeholder outreach, engagement, training, and technical assistance. This position will function within the Tobacco and Substance Use Prevention and Control Program at the Maine CDC and will report to the Substance Use Prevention Program Manager. This full-time 40-hour per week position will be housed at the Maine CDC office in Augusta, with the opportunity for some remote work. This is a two-year grant-funded project with the potential for funding beyond that time. This position is eligible for MCD’s benefit package.

Essential Job Functions:
•Manage and monitor the environmental scan and needs assessment process, including vendor contracts, ensuring deliverables are met
•Assist in design, development and oversee implementation of the MY-SBIRT project in collaboration with state partners, schools, community-based providers, and healthcare providers based on needs assessment recommendations
•Manage ongoing MY- SBIRT project deliverables, budget, and contracts
•Serve as the point of contact for the MY-SBIRT project
•Monitor the funding needs and develop a sustainability plan
•Coordinate and/or provide system wide training, consultation, and technical assistance to assure that evidence-based prevention/early intervention behavioral health services are implemented
•Modify SBIRT training as needed to accommodate the target population
•Assist in data collection and evaluation related activities including monitoring implementation for quality assurance
•Gather information and data for the purposes of developing program/policy recommendations and issue/briefing papers on key system issues
•Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
•Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of experience (or master’s degree with at least 3 years of experience) in a Human Services Profession (i.e., psychology, social work, public health, etc.) with an understanding of behavioral health prevention science
•Demonstrated strong project management skills
•Proficient knowledge of current alcohol, tobacco, and other substance use prevention, intervention, treatment practices and recovery-oriented system of care philosophies
•Knowledge of outcomes assessment, experience with research and evaluation protocols, as well as strong analytical and writing skills
•Ability to work with groups from diverse racial, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds
•Experience in gathering, using, and presenting data for program evaluation information dissemination to stakeholder and community groups
•Strong oral and written communication skills
•Skill in working effectively as a team member to coordinate the accomplishment of specific tasks
•Skill in managing multiple tasks simultaneously

The following are preferred:
•Familiarity with SBIRT models, Motivational Interviewing, and the Global Assessment of Individual Needs (GAIN) and other behavioral health screening tools for youth and adults (e.g., AUDIT, DAST, CRAFT, PHQ-9, GAD – 7 etc.)
•Experience in program development/management for youth/young adults
•Demonstrated experience identifying system gaps and developing strategies for continuous quality improvement
