Virtual Health & Telehealth

MCD Global Health has served as an expert and leader in the planning and deployment of virtual health and telehealth solutions for more than 40 years with the goal of improving the health and well-being of rural and underserved populations in a cost-effective way.

According to the National Consortium of Telehealth Resource Centers, "Telehealth is the provision of health care, public health, and health education at a distance using telecommunications technologies."

Northeast Telehealth Resource Center

Northeast Telehealth Resource Center logoSince 2011, we have served as the Northeast Telehealth Resources Center (NETRC), one of only 14 Telehealth Resource Centers funded through the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) Office for Advancement of Telehealth (OAT).

The NETRC guides telehealth program development throughout New England (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont) and New York. We work closely with health systems, Federally Qualified Health Centers, Critical Access Hospitals, Rural Health Clinics, state governments, and many others. The NETRC is also a proud member of the National Consortium of Telehealth Resource Centers contributing to the development of sustainable telehealth programs and improving health outcomes for rural and underserved communities across the U.S.

Partners of the NETRC: National Consortium of Telehealth Resource Centers, University of Vermont Health Network, and University of Vermont Medical Center.

Rural Behavioral Health Workforce Center

MCD received a three-year grant to expand behavioral health care services in rural Maine through education, training, and mentorship programs. The grant, from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Federal Office of Rural Health Policy, will help bring new workers into the behavioral health workforce, support early career staff to develop new skills and become eligible for additional certifications, and offer clinical health providers opportunities to enhance their skill in treatment and intervention for behavioral health disorders, focusing on substance use disorder.
