The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) School Oral Health Program (SOHP) began as a fluoride-rinse program in the 1970s and has taken several forms since, always intending to improve student's oral health outcomes.
In its current stage, the program functions as a network of school-based providers who focus on making oral well-being accessible to all of Maine’s school children through preventative oral health services and education.

VISION
Equitable access to oral well-being.

MISSION
To partner with schools and providers and offer preventive oral health services and empowerment through education to bridge the gap between the oral health care system and Maine’s students.

VALUES
Equity, sustainability, and impact.
