The Benin Private Sector Health Partnership Activity (PSHPA) aims to strengthen Beninese capacity to effectively manage the provision of reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health (RMNCH) services and increase their use.
In 2020, the Emergency Obstetrical and Neonatal Care e-Learning Module was developed and designed for nurses and midwives to facilitate development of essential clinical skills for basic maternal and newborn care and management of common complications in pregnancy and childbirth. Also in 2020, a procedures manual was developed and disseminated with a focus on obtaining authorization to practice with private clientele as well as for opening and operating private facilities.
What Our Participants Say:
"Let me congratulate PSHPA and USAID for all that they are doing for the development and acquisition of skills at the private health facility (PHF) level; this was a great need for the PHFs because this is what was missing in these structures. The selected PHFs were very happy to participate in this follow-up [training], and there was a real desire to improve skills, and I think that this follow-up will improve maternal and child survival. My hope is that this will be a permanent activity."
