Malaria

MCD Global Health is working to eliminate malaria in numerous countries through innovative, locally-led initiatives.

Malaria continues to be a major public health challenge around the world with the greatest burden specifically in sub-Saharan Africa.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO)'s 2024 World Malaria Report, there was a staggering 263 million cases and nearly 600,000 deaths associated with malaria reported in 2023. Despite this, millions of cases and deaths are estimated to have been averted by existing control strategies, continuing with the positive trend since 2000.

For more than four decades, MCD Global Health has led malaria control programs that have helped people, including children and pregnant women, receive high-quality and timely malaria diagnosis and treatment in Africa and Southeast Asia.
