Supporting the CHW Workforce Through Training, Education, and Advancement
August 26, 2026

In celebration of National Community Health Worker (CHW) Awareness Week, MCD Global Health is recognizing the vital contributions of CHWs and the essential role they play in improving health outcomes, advancing health equity, and connecting people to the care and services they need.
CHWs are trusted members of the communities they serve, helping individuals navigate health and social service systems, overcome barriers to care, and access critical resources.
We are proud to support the CHW workforce through training and professional development opportunities designed to strengthen knowledge, skills, and confidence in the field. This CHW Awareness Week we’re highlighting two of the learning resources available for CHWs through our online learning platform, MCD Learn:
CHW Health Bundle
Our CHW Health Bundle provides practical, self-paced training on a wide range of topics relevant to today's community health workforce, including chronic disease management, cancer prevention and screening, healthy aging, telehealth, health equity, care coordination, and more. Designed with and for CHWs, the bundle equips learners with knowledge and tools that they can apply immediately in their communities.
These modules complement MCD's CHW Core Competency Training by offering additional education, skill-building opportunities, and access to valuable resources through our eLearning platform.
This bundle is available through MCD Learn and can be accessed by creating a free account. Once registered, learners can explore available courses and enroll in training opportunities that support both personal and professional growth.
CHW Behavioral Health Specialty Track
In addition, MCD Learn offers a free CHW Behavioral Health Specialty Track. Available to anyone with a free MCD Learn account, this self-paced learning track equips CHWs with foundational behavioral health knowledge and practical skills in trauma-informed support, crisis response, harm reduction, and community resource navigation. The training is designed to help CHWs effectively support individuals experiencing mental health and substance use challenges while promoting recovery and well-being.
Free Webinar: Supporting Behavioral Health and Recovery
In addition to these courses, MCD is hosting a free, interactive webinar: The Story Behind the Behavior: Supporting Behavioral Health and Recovery in CHW Practice, which takes place at noon (ET) Tuesday, September 8, on Zoom.
Attendees will learn how to look beyond behaviors to better understand the experiences, strengths, and resilience of the people they serve.
If you've completed our Behavioral Health Specialty Track (see above), then this session will extend your learning and apply those concepts in real-world situations.
We want to thank CHWs for the difference they make every day and invite CHWs, employers, and community partners to explore the resources available on MCD Learn.
