MCD Global Health and Maine DHHS to Release Year 1 Digital Health and Telehealth Funding Opportunities
Organizations across Maine will soon have opportunities to participate in innovative digital health, telehealth, and technology initiatives designed to improve access to care and strengthen rural health systems.
MCD Global Health, in partnership with the Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), is preparing to release a series of funding opportunities as part of the Maine Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP), a federally funded initiative focused on strengthening and modernizing rural healthcare across the state. MCD serves as a subrecipient supporting Maine's Technology and Innovation initiatives, which include telehealth expansion, patient-facing digital tools, EMR-related support activities, and augmented intelligence (AI) initiatives.
The RHTP includes $50 billion in federal funding nationwide over five years. Maine received more than $190 million in Year 1 funding and has organized its work around five statewide initiatives, including Technology and Innovation.
Upcoming Funding Opportunities
Over the coming weeks, MCD expects to release opportunities supporting a range of digital health approaches intended to improve access to care, strengthen provider capacity, and advance sustainable healthcare solutions for rural communities.
Funding opportunities will include projects and programs that:
- Expand telehealth and increase access to care through virtual services,
- Help individuals access care, manage health conditions, and connect with resources, and
- Other opportunities related to technology-enabled care and rural health innovation

Who Should Participate?
Funding opportunities may be relevant to a wide range of organizations serving rural communities, including:
- Rural hospitals
- Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs)
- Healthcare practices and clinics
- Long-term care and nursing facilities
- Schools and educational partners
- Community-based organizations
- Public health organizations
- Technology and service vendors
- Other rural health stakeholders
Specific eligibility requirements will vary by opportunity and will be outlined in the individual funding announcements.
Join an Upcoming Information Session
MCD and DHHS will host informational sessions to help prospective applicants understand available opportunities and how to participate. Each session will provide an overview of the RHTP, explain the specific funding pathway being discussed, review application or proposal requirements, and offer participants an opportunity to ask questions.
