MCD Global Health is excited to announce Cristine Betters as MCD's next CEO and president, effective July 1. Betters brings over two decades of experience in public health and international development, with a proven track record of excellence and innovation at global, regional, and local levels.

Betters has held pivotal roles at leading organizations, such as Pact, Abt Global (formerly Abt Associates), and Malaria Consortium. Her achievements include securing over $1 billion in funding and overseeing portfolios exceeding $400 million.

Her experience ranges from rural grant making for a U.S. family foundation to leadership roles driving groundbreaking initiatives, including scaling novel malaria prevention protocols and managing USAID’s largest health award in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Betters earned her academic credentials from Columbia University, with master's degrees in international affairs and public health, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami. She is fluent in English and French and based in Washington, D.C.

Tim Allen, chair of MCD’s Board of Directors, shared his confidence in her leadership: “Cristine Betters embodies the values and vision of MCD. Her exceptional track record in public health, coupled with her inspiring leadership, positions her to guide MCD into an exciting new chapter. The board is confident in her ability to lead MCD with integrity, innovation, and purpose.”
